new stroller

well, with the addition of a new little one coming, we decided we probably needed to purchase a double stroller to make things easier... haha! well, i had been looking around and they are quite pricey, and we just could not afford one. i had looked around at a few second hand stores to begin with, but they didn't have any and i had checked with a few friends, but they were either still using their's or they had already gotten rid of them. well, i went back to one of the second hand stores and when i was there the lady told me about one that her dad had brought in, but it was really old and dirty and everything. well, she originally told me i could have it if i really wanted it, for $10.00 so i went home and talked to jason about it and i went back almost 2 weeks later. normally she sells double strollers within 2-3 days... she still had this one, in fact, she never even offered it to anyone else (it was really bad!). so, i took another look at it and i asked her if she knew how easily everything came off, and she asked if i just wanted to know to wash it, or what. i told her i really didn't like the material on it, because it had tomatoes and abstract art on it and it looked really... old! so, i told her my mom had offered to redo it for me and cover it. she then told me if i was going to go thru all that work, i could have it for $5.00. it was sold! i wasn't sure what i wanted to recover it with though. so, this called for a shopping trip! well, i couldn't find a better excuse! so, i went to walmart and found some material that i liked and sent the box to my mom a few days later. meanwhile, i had already washed down the stroller and was still looking at prices of some. we went out of town and we saw some at another second hand baby store, but they were pretty dirty too and they wanted $65.00 for the cheapest one and went up to $185.00 for the more expensive nicer one. well, when my mom got the box she started immediately working on the recovering and would call me constantly with updates as to how far she was. it only took her about 3 days to recover everything, and another 2-3 days to put the binding on by hand. she sent the box back and this is our beautiful stroller... good job mom! thanks! thank heaven for an excited oma who loves to do things for her grandchildren!

alltogether with the material and the
stroller and everything we spent about
$15.00 + oma's time and love and effort=
PRICELESS!

tootsies #2

so, i had to tutor last night and my toenails were starting to look pretty shabby... enough for jason to jokingly tell me..."honey, i think it's time to redo those nails." so, i tried to take the nailpolish off during the day, while i was at work, but i couldn't get all of it off, but when i went to tutor, the first thing ashley said to me was, "do you want me to paint your nails?" of course, my answer was a definate YES! so, bless her heart, my toes got repainted and she even had to take off the rest of the nail polish. they look really cute, sporting a french tip and some cute little flowers. i think i need to hire her as a personal maincurist and pedicurist. ;) thanks ashley!

what an exciting weekend!!!!

well, it started off friday night... we finished work, went out for dinner and then went home. everything was great! then we went over to the neighbors to stop and visit before we went in the house. when we were walking over to our house i kinda' missed seeing a hole in our yard and i was carrying jacob and we biffed it! my left leg went under me, right leg in front of me, i fell forward, but pushed myself back. jacob was fine, but my left foot was REALLY hurting! i told jason to get jacob off of me and i would try to get up, but i couldn't get up, so here i am 6 months pregnant and laying on the ground crying! finally, the neighbor heard me crying and "screaming" at jason to get jacob off of me and she came over to help. she thought at first i was rolling on the ground laughing. when she came over she took jacob and then jason had to pretty much pick me up and walk me in the house. my foot started swelling immediately and i was in MUCH pain. so after about an hour of ice, we decided to call grammy and grandpa to come watch jacob while we went to the hospital. we were in e.r. for almost 2 hours and they said it is just badly sprained and they gave me an air splint. they also listened to the baby and said that she sounded o.k. PTL!! so, they told me to take it easy and rest for 3-5 days with my foot in the air and ice on it... no weight, etc. yeh right! so, saturday morning we went to alliance, ne. (about 45 min.-1 hour away) so jason could measure a window and then we came back home. once we got home i had to make a rhubarb crisp, because we were going to the neighbor's house for dinner as we had already planned 2 weeks before. after i got done making that i had to get the corn on the cob ready too and then i took a quick nap and then i had to go interpret for the college graduation for 2 hours... when i was done we rushed home to go have dinner with the neighbors. we went over there and had dinner and by the time we finally made it home for the evening... it was almost 10:30. so i got my foot elevated and iced at about 11:00. meanwhile, when i was getting the corn on the cob ready, jacob fell off of my recliner, right on his head on our hard floor and has a nice bruise on his head. (this picture was today... a couple days later)

so, yesterday after church i actually laid on the couch and just rested! jason, bless his heart, did all the laundry for me and hung everything up and even put the other clothes away. he also loaded the dishwasher. what a blessing! so, today i have to go in to the dr. to have her recheck my ankle and listen to the baby, because the e.r. dr. wanted me to have a follow up with her. we'll see what happens...

we do have one huge prayer request... we have a guy that we hired in february that we really like and he's a very hard worker and everything, but his wife got a job in torrington, wy. and he told us this morning that he will be quitting. we really get along well with him and he's a quick learner and he's been such a blessing, we will really miss him and this will put ALL the work on jason now. which it has already been a stress because there has been a lot of work. please pray that God will send the right person to us, or answer in His own way.

mother's day

i hope everyone's mother's day was well!?! mine was GREAT! it started off in the morning with jason getting up with jacob so that i could sleep in. PTL! then my boys brought me breakfast in bed. they brought me hashbrowns nicely centered on a plate, with strawberry halves placed on the outside of the plate around the hashbrowns... it looked like a big flower. it was mighty tasty! then i got out of bed and showered and got ready and everything and we played hookie from church. we went to cheyenne, wy. and went shopping and out for lunch and just spent some family time together. it was very much needed!!! we had a wonderful time eating at sanford's grub and pub. i had heard of the place from my friend hyde and have wanted to go for quite some time, so we finally found it and tried it and it is a definate "go back to" place. jason wanted to order off the kids menu, but restrained himself... they had footlong hotdogs and hotdogs are one of his favorite foods. so, i ordered one for jacob and jason ate about 2/3 of it. it was HUGE! it was about 1 1/2 inches thick and came with fries and applesauce and a gummy worm and a pickle. jacob was really excited when he got his food. he had already eaten about 1/3 of my onion rings and dip.

after we were done there we went out shopping and looking for a dress for jos' wedding in a month, but i still haven't had much luck. over all, jacob made out the best with shopping. he got a box of nappys, a swimsuit/diaper, bible trivia cards, and a "grow your own towel/washcloth". i got a bag of banana chips and sunflower seeds, which i snack on quite often at work. on the way home jacob fell asleep which was really good and he looked quite satisfied!

jason didn't get anything, except me... how much better does it get!?! just kidding... actually, when we got home, our lawn looked really nice and i said "wow honey! the yard looks really nice!" jokingly, jason said it was because of the fertilizer that he had put on, but he hasn't put any on it, but i said well, it looks like it is freshly mowed and everything. then, i knew he hadn't done the backyard yet, so i went back there and looked and sure enough it was mowed. well, i knew right away that the neighbor had been over that day, so sure enough we were leaving for ice cream and we saw him outside and i said thanks and immediately he said, "well, it's mother's day... have a good one." so, to say the least, jason got the lawn mowed for mother's day. normally i make the neighbor a rhubarb crisp when he mows the lawn, but he told me not to worry about it this time, since it was mother's day and he just wanted to help out. we have been really blessed with wonderful neighbors! hope everyone enjoyed their day as much as i did mine! ... oh! before i forget... one of the most exciting things of my day was when we returned home from our day in cheyenne, jacob needed his nappy changed, so we went into his bedroom to change him and i could see he was ready to go again, so i quickly walked him over to his potty and he actually went pee-pee on his new potty for the first time... yeah!

today update

well, the neighbor girl heard that jacob wasn't feeling well and wasn't eating well and she knows he has a sweet tooth, because her kids are constantly giving jacob candy and things, so she brought him some donut holes (she works at the bakery). within about 5 minutes he had eaten 4, and then he ate another 2. so, while our child is not eating good healthy food, he is filling up on donut wholes and junk food... GREAT!

today...

well, today has been quite the day with jacob! he's been really naughty, and i think he might have an ear infection that's contributing to it. the morning nap that usually lasts 1 hour only lasted about 20 minutes, then grammy had a purple pen that jacob likes and he took it and wrote on himself and a little Bible book that he has. then at lunch today jacob signed to us that he wanted food, so i heated up food for him and as he's been doing this whole week, he takes about 2 bites then he starts taking a bite and spitting it out all chewed up. after lunch i tried brushing his teeth and he got furious with me because i was trying to help him brush as the only thing he does is suck the toothpaste off the brush and then put more on and suck and so on... so while he was throwing his little fit, he decided to scream and kick and punch and just throw a fit. so needless to say i'm EXTREMELY exhausted and ready for this day to be over. so before i logged on to do this blog, i asked jacob to smile for me so i could put a picture of him on there and this is what i got... very appropriate for the day... the little monster!

new "hats"

jacob decided this week that he was going to try a few more upside down things on his head and when jason was at the shop alone with him the other morning, jason turned around to find this...

then, yesterday a very important business man was in the shop and i was talking to him and i turn around to see jacob walking back to daddy's office like this...
yes, that is a money bag, and since we obviously aren't filling it, what a better way to use it than to use it for a hat!?!
