Denver to Chicago

well, we've made it to chicago and the worst part was getting to denver! we left the house this morning at about 4:30 a.m. and it took us about a 1/2 hour to go about 25 miles... not too bad, then after we quit following the snow plow, it was much, MUCH slower! after about 5 miles, we ended up in the ditch. after 2 hours, 2 phone calls to 911, 2 phone calls with the tow company, and 2 potty breaks ( i'll let you figure that one out), we finally made it out of the ditch and back on our way. we made it to denver, missing our original flight time, but we called and got our tickets changed to a later time and PTL it all worked out! now the only poblem is we are waiting in chicago (for 2 hours already and another to go) for our luggage, because our flight time got changed but our luggage was already on the other plane's cart. so, we are enjoying a true Christmas dinner at... none other than mcdonald's. at least we get to spend some time with oma and opa and then we'll be heading home to our week long residence with auntie foofie. hope all is well this Christmas for all of you and enjoy the friendship and time with others!

(i actually tried to post this on Christmas day... sorry it didn't work and this was the earliest i could post it.)

what a blessing!

i just have to praise the Lord each day for my wonderful husband and our beautiful son! it's been a little change working full time/part time at the shop for jason. i say full time/part time, because i have the blessing of being a stay at home mom/jason's secretary. i am here full time, but jacob is here with us at work, so i can have the best of both worlds.

jacob, because he's been at the shop since birth, likes to try and fix things around the shop. today he decided that he was going to fix the safe in the showroom. how fun it is to watch him as he discovers new skills and new locks/tools to use them on.

what a blessing!

praise ye the Lord. praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in the firmament of his power. praise him for his mighty acts; praise him according to his excellent greatness. praise him with the sound of the trumpet; praise him with the psaltery and harp. praise him with the timbrel and dance; praise him with stringed instruments and organs. praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. praise ye the Lord. psalms 150

wow! this morning was amazing for me! i was able to take the morning off of work at the shop to go and do a spa for the ladies bible study group at church and in doing so, i was able to attend bible study. they are going through a beth moore studies called "breaking free." it was such a blessing to be with those ladies and get to first be fed spiritually and then to be blessed with their friendship and then to top it all off, i got to pamper them. we had a lot of fun trying out the products and laughing together and just enjoying the fellowship of one another. afterwards the ladies were going out for chinese, and of course, i couldn't say no to their offer to join them. ;) then it was back to work at the shop. so here i am now and praising God for the wonderful start to a beautiful day! hope your day is as good as mine!!

Merry Christmas

we just wanted to take a moment to tell everyone Merry Christmas and though we can't be with all of you this year, we wish we could. as Christmas approaches we are reminded of our familly who lives so far away and we think of when mary & joseph had to travel to go "back home" to be near family. luckily, with modern conviences, we can be with our family who lives appox. 1300 miles away, in about 6 hours (flying out of denver and into chicago). i wonder what it would have been like to take that trip just over 2000 years ago, on the back of a donkey. i hate to say it, but i complain enough having to sit in the car for 3 hours! this Christmas we pray each of our family and friends will remember to celebrate the true Reason for the season wherever you are... we love you!

jacob's 1st birthday

it's hard to believe my little man is 1 year old already. i feel like it was just yesterday that i was in the hospital going back and forth to the nicu 5-6 times a day.

well, we decided to have a husker party for jacob. it's original, i know. ;) we actuallly had 2 party's. 1 was for family and we had that the day after thanksgiving, and the other was for our church family and that was on the 2nd of dec. jacob really enjoyed all of the attention!

on his birthday we didn't do too much. we went out for a fast food dinner and then stayed home and played at night. jason was supposed to bowl on the league that night, but a really sweet friend of ours filled in for him and he was able to stay home with us. thanks lori!

the day after his birthday we had his one year pictures taken. i'll put those in a future blog.

First Experience with Blogging

ok, so the really funny thing with this is, i just typed up a big long thing introducing my new blog and why i am doing it and explained that this was my first time ever posting my own blog and then i tried to post it and i did it wrong and lost it all. so... i am trying it again and hopefully this will work. :)

well, this is really my first experience with my own blogging. i actually got the idea from a friend who bloggs so that her family can stay in her kids' lives and keep them "in the loop". i thought this would be a fun way to do just the same and be able to let EVERYONE know what was going on in our lives-mainly jacob's. :)

well, i hope everyone enjoys reading this and hopefully i can keep up with jacob and his adventures in "jacob's world". ;)

thanks for reading!
