my toes

for the last 9 months i have been tutoring a student that is going to cosmetology school. it definately has it's benefits! i have had a pedicure, my eyebrows waxed and last night while we were tutoring i even got my toenails painted. i normally have my toenails painted at all times... normally a classy color and just plain. i took my nailpolish off the other day because it need to be redone, but i couldn't bend over anylonger to actually repaint them. my stomach was hurting and i couldn't breath... the joys of a big belly! so, when i showed up to tutor my student noticed my toenails and said that if i brought my nailpolish she would paint them for me, she's such a sweetheart! well, then she said i could just choose one of her's and she would paint them right away and i said o.k., so as we studied she painted away. i told her she could do whatever. she decided we would have matching toenails for now. she also told me that she would continue to paint them for me until i had the baby and was able to do them again myself. WHAT A SWEETHEART! so, here's my watermelon toes... (you might have to click on the picture to see it close up and in detail.)

JENNIE!!!!!

so, last night i was trying to get some things ready for missions conferance and i was upstairs and the boys were down. after about 10 minutes all i hear is ..."JENNIE!!!!" so i went running downstairs to find jason covered in jacob's vomit. jacob had been acting funny at dinner and actually most of the day, so we were kinda' wondering anyway, but then it happened. he didn't eat anything at dinner at all, and we didn't really push him. he was very lathargic and just kinda' laying on daddy and then he didn't get fussy or anything, he just started vomitting. i felt so helpless. i didn't know what to do for him, except pray. he also had diarhea and just looked miserable all evening... poor kid. today he is a little better, but is still kinda' lathargic. he just wants to cuddle with mommy, and i'm not complaining about that!

day 4 & 5 (&6)

well, we were soooooo busy yesterday that i did not get a chance to post a blog, so i'm going to try to do that with today's blog.

yesterday morning we were still in tuscan, and we had called brian (jason's brother who used to live in tucson) and he wanted us to take a picture of his old house, so we did that first thing in the morning and then we picked ruthann up and went to the air museum. it was really cool and there were a lot of old planes to look at. after that we went out for lunch and then brought ruthann back to her aunt's house for the day. we then took off and went to phoenix to see my great aunt dottie and great uncle "deke". we visitied for a while and then went out for dinner... i told you all that i'm only here for the food (just kidding)... after that we went back to there house and had dessert and then left very late, well for a baby who needed bath and a bed. we drove around looking for a hotel and had the hardest time finding one, but then G od works all things out. we finally stopped at a hotel that did not have secured internet, so i took the computer out and got on hotwire.com and punched in the city and, if you don't know how hotwire works, you punch in a city and date and everything and they give you a price, you accept what you want and then they tell you where you are staying or if it's a flight, who you are flying with, etc. well, when we were checking around, even the best western was over $100.00 and everyone was already sold out. so, when i agreed at $59.00 for a room for the night, + taxes and hotwire fees, we ended up paying about $73.00 and it popped up our hotel name and information and it was a hilton. PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! this was such a blessing and it was by far the nicest/fanciest hotel we'd ever stayed in and other than not having a free continental breakfast, everything was great! we woke up this morning went swimming had fun and then we left. we did a little shopping today at ikea-just for you jos & ginger-that's their new favorite store. this was our first time there. then we took off on the highway again. we drove through the mountains in arizona. it was very pretty, but very long and not what we expected. we did have to avoid hitting an elk. it was in the mountains and jason was driving arounf the corner and it was in the middle of the road. this was the first time i had ever seen an elk in the wild. it was really neat! well after all of this... we've made it to holbrook, az for the evening, without our pillows (oops! we left them at the hilton, so they are mailing them to us. ) , but very ready to rest for the evening. hope all is well and i'll try to post tomorrow. we're not sure if we'll make it all the way home tomorrow, or if we'll stop somewhere for the evening... we'll see.
well, this blog is a couple days old, because i was unable to post it with soooooo many pictures at the last two hotels because the internet was not fast enough, so i'm sending it tonight. today we drove all day and made it to colorado springs, co. we are stopping here for the night and then tomorrow we will make it home in time for me to interpret in the evening and jason to go bowling. it's been a long trip and we are all irritable and out of our routine, but i think we'll survive.

day 3

well, we made it on our way, out of albuqurque and on to tucson and then phoenix. we are in tucson now and caught up with ruthann and mum and had dinner together. jacob enjoyed pasta and a lemon with auntie ruthann and then he decided to work for his dinner by sweeping the floor at the restaurant. he looked at the busgirl and wanted her broom so she gave it to him and he started sweeping. we had a good time just visiting and dining. then we had to stop at a world market, of course. unfortunately there isn't enough room in the van or i think i could find some furniture and fun stuff to take home. tomorrow our plan is to pick up ruthann in the a.m. and then go to the airplane graveyard. jason knows the wy to his woman's heart and airplanes is on that list.

plans changed...

well, we didn't end up going to the zoo today as planned. it was very cold and windy outside and we thought it would be best to do some indoor activities, such as, sleep! after breakfast we went back to the hotel room and we all laid down and watched a little t.v., and then took naps. it was about jacob's naptime and i thought after that we'd go to the zoo. it was then that we realized it was much too cold to go to the zoo. we didn't leave the hotel 'till about 1:00, for lunch and then we drove around for much of the afternoon and then came back to the hotel and played around in the room 'till dinner time. we went to this amazing steakhouse for dinner. it had a HUGE salad bar and really good food! i ordered fried mushrooms for my meal and i got so many of them that i couldn't even finish them. i told jason if we lived near here i would definately be there at least weekly. it was sooooooo good! my phrase for this trip is "i'm only along for the food." and tonight was the first time that the meal actually lived up to phrase worthiness. well, it's off to bed for me as the guys are just getting ready to leave for bowling. jacob is nestled all snug in his bed... well, at least he's sleeping for now, we'll see about when the boys and grammy get back from bowling at about 2:30 in the morning.

we've made it!

well, today is day 2 of our trip to albequrque. we made it here yesterday after a LONG, LONG, LONG, did i mention LONG, day of traveling. the guys bowled last night and got done at about 11:30 p.m., so i did not get a chance to post a blog. they did fairly well for nationals, considering it's a new alley, new surrounding and the whole mentality of this being nationals. jacob did fairly well at first in the trip, but then went crazy for the rest of the ride. it was very long and we stopped many times! being in a carpool/caravan anytime someone needs to stop, everyone stops and that was a LOT yesterday! it is really hard for me as i like to get in the car and go and keep on going, but we stopped, at first, about every 45 minutes. then our last leg, we actually made it about 3 hours. i was sooooooooooo excited! jacob started out by watching videos on my laptop, but then i wanted him to take his nap, but that didn't happen. he only took about a 20 minute nap on the whole trip and the rest of the time he was trying to undo his carseat and trying to escape. luckily, the carseat latch is still a little new and doesn't always come undone very easy, or i think he would have done it.

well, i'm hoping today to check out the zoo and then tonight the boys bowl again, but since they don't start 'till 11:30 p.m., i am going to stay at the hotel with jacob and hopefully have some peaceful mommy and me time. have a great day and we'll talk to you tomorrow!
