easter

well, we hope everyone had a wonderful easter, or as our pastor reminded us, the more appropriate name, resurrection day. we had a lot of fun with our friends and my in laws. we had kind of a potluck dinner and really enjoyed ourselves just sitting and chatting and remembering the "good times" of the past. we had quite the feast. we had turkey, funeral potatoes, jello, veggie tray, rolls, cooked carrots, cauliflower and brocolli with cheese, rice pilaf, and snickers cake. we had brownies later on in the day and snacked all day on the veggies. it was all soooooooo yummy! i think the babies favorite part was the brownies and cake that mommy ate.... i'm sure the baby gave mommy a thumb's up on those. we had a wonderful time at church in the morning. i always enjoy singing on the praise tam and we had a great group to sing with yesterday! we are all kinda' related (well, i'm only by marriage) and we were the ones that originally started the praise team at church back about 5 years ago when we all started going to that church. we have soooooooo much fun singing together and just praisin' the Lord! then we talk about how "so and so" used to sing it, or how "so and so" used to do this and that when we sang this song and that song. we had so much fun reminiscing. hope you all had as much fun as we did!?! praise God, we serve a risen Savior!

jacob likes to do new things...

well, mommy and jacob were hanging out at the shop by ourselves the other day and mommy taught jacob a new little trick. i taught him that if you turn things upside down you can turn them into other things (you'd be so proud, auntie ruthann). so, while we were sitting there we turned a cup upside down and tried to put it on our heads but it was too small. then we tried a smaller cup and it was much too small, but then we tried a small bucket and while it was too small on mommy's head, it fit jacob's perfectly. so, this is our new hat. while it makes my head look a little big (honestly it's only the bucket), it is adorable on jacob's!

it's a ????????

well, we went into the dr. yesterday and everything sounds good with the baby. jacob also had an appointment and everything was good for him too. he is a big 22 pounds and 13 ounces and eats non-stop! the dr. asked us if we wanted to find out what the gender of the baby was and of course we said yes, so they set up an ultrasound on the 7th of april to find out. until then we'll just tease eachother and have fun guessing. i should start to feel him/her moving anytime, but i haven't felt anything yet. we'll keep ya'll posted.

jacob's secret...

well, for those of you that haven't heard jacob's secret yet... he's going to be a big brother!! yes, i'm pregnant (for those of you who hadn't already figured it out) and i'm due around aug. 23rd. i'm about 15 weeks or somewhere around there and we are not sure if it's a boy or a girl yet, as it's still too early. we will find out, however, in about 5 weeks. i think it would be fun to have a girl and jason continually teases me that it's another boy, but we just pray for a healthy child. so far everthing is going alright in this pregnancy. i've had morning sickness (afternoon/evening/all the time) but they say that's a good sign. we are very excited about our new little boy/girl. the kids will be almost 2 years apart, which will be a good distance and hopefully they can be playmates. i'm pretty sure jacob doesn't understand that there's a baby in mommy's tummy, but he kisses the baby everyday. we tell him to give baby a kiss and he comes up to me, lifts my shirt up so he can see my belly and then kisses it. jason continually calls the baby "buddy" so i correct him and say "no, hunny... it's princess!" but as i've said before, as long as the baby is healthy we'll be happy. please continue to pray for us though, as we have a few travels coming up and that is always fun when your big and pregnant and just pray for the safety of the baby. the ultrasound pictures above are from our first ultrasound in january. i was about 9 1/2 weeks at that time. what an amazing miracle God has given and created for us!?!

what a mess!!!

sunday afternoon was quite the day in our house... jacob decided he did not want his nappy changed after he took a nap and he was quite mad, so as i was taking his nappy off he scooted his bottom over on the carpet and smeared his poo on the carpet. i was NOT happy, but then, to make it worse, he picked up his nappy by the tab and flung it around and poo went flying everywhere. WHAT A MESS! so, about 20 minutes later, as i was trying to cool off, my mother called and asked how her little angel was doing, i proceded to tell her the story and she laughed. i told her this was not a laughing matter and if she wanted a spanking too, to keep it up! what a mean mommy i am! hope your day is free of flinging poo!
as for the rsv and everything, things are going well. jacob is doing great! the dr. doesn't need to see him 'till march 11 and he is back to his onery self. obviously! he has another 2 molars (this makes 4) and is eating us out of house and home at only 14 months... i hate to see what his teen years will be like!
hope all is well with all of you!

when it rains it pours...

well, it's been a little while since i've written, i know, but i've been extremely busy with a sick child and many, many dr.'s appointments. jacob started coughing and almost choking about a week and a half ago, and then he started coughing and throwing up, so we tried giving him cough medicine and those things and we just kinda' watched him for a couple days and then we took him to the dr on sat. we went to urgent care and the dr there told us that he had double ear infections. this is now the fourth time this has happened to our little man. well, by sunday night he was so sick i wanted to bring him to the er, but we waited 'till monday morning and then we brought him to the dr. and she checked him out and told us he was a VERY sick little boy! she did some testing on him and the test for rsv came back positive that he has it. so jacob has a double ear infection and rsv. he has been really cranky (his father says he gets that from me) and really whiny! i took him to the chiropractor and that seems to be working the best. the regular dr. didn't know i was taking him to the chiropractor and she said "wow! his steroids that we started him on are really working!" what she doesn't know is that out of the 5 medications that she prescribed, jacob is only taking his nebulizer treatments. he is not taking the steroids or other drugs they gave him for the ear infections and everything else and his one ear is almost completely better. PRAISE THE LORD! we are just waiting for him to get back to normal. he did sleep the best last night that he has slept in the last week. he only woke up once at 6:00 a.m. and he went right back to sleep. so please pray with us that he will get back to normal soon.
