jacobism

a couple nights ago, it was quite chilly out and snowy and the kids wanted hot cocoa.  jason doesn't drink hot drinks, but jacob said"daddy, i know the only hot drink you like... MOMMY!  you know... get it... she's hot!"   i love that boy!

jacob/jaydenisms

today, at lunch, we were eating pizza and i was enjoying every stinkin' bite of it when jacob tells me... " mom, you're like a robertson man (from duck dynasty)... the way to a robertson's heart is through his stomach..."  and jason pops up with a "she has a beard too!"  jayden then quickly replies with" women with whiskers... it's a bummer" (from papa- phil robertson).  we just about all lost our lunch with that one.  ;)

jayden...

much to our surprise... jayden accepted the offer to hamster sit for a friend.  for any of you that know our little girl, this is a HUGE feat!  she HATES animals and she did it!  she was so brave and we are so very proud of her!  love you big girl! xoxo

jacobism and jaceeism

so... i've been terribly busy and haven't been on here much, but i have  a few "isms" to catch up on...
#1- a few weeks back jacob saw this dog outside in a car and said, " DUDE!!!  LOOK AT THAT DOG... HE HAS MORE THAN ONE BELLY BUTTON!"  to which i had to explain... "honey, that's a girl doggy and those are her boobies so that she can feed her babies."  his reply... "SICK!"
#2- jacee has a pair of tap shoes from her cousin lily that she calls her "clap shoes".  makes sense.  ;)

aunt 'retta

we lost a great lady last week.  aunt loretta was a woman who are family cherished and had a great respect for.  she was a courageous woman as the pastor said.  battling cancer and fighting the odds.  she had a temper and humor, love and compassion.  our kids will always remember going to her house and watching wipeout and aunt loretta always having water bottles with her.
yesterday at the burial, the kids asked if we could bring aunt 'retta flowers in a week or two and go visit her.  i told them we sure could and jacee piped up and said she wanted to bring aunt retta some water... 'cause she likes to drink lots of water.  ;)  we love you aunt 'retta!

what's new

so, it's been a while since i've posted (other than the one about 5 minutes ago) .  we've been busy with life and school and extra activities, but we've been good.  jacee is potty trained during the day, still using the nappy at night.  jayden just lost her first tooth.  jacob is getting geared up for another summer of baseball.  all in all, we're doing great!  summer will bring a bunch more activities and busy-ness to the schedule, but we're excited for what God has in store for us.  we'll be cheering jacob on at games, having an anniversary vacation for my parents (their 35th), a family reunion for the hullingers, a few trips to rapid city for weekend getaways, and whatever else we can fit in.
i've already planted many of my garden veggies in containers, my first time trying this.  it's almost time to get the full garden going and hopefully i'll have a bit of a headstart on that.  not much else going on, but ... thanks for reading!

jacobism...

today's funny is brought to you by... jacob.  he was grading his sister in her wrestling abilities and he tells her... " jayden, you know what grade i give you for your wrestling?  a f-y... get it... FAIL-YOUR (failure)!!"  so coincidentally, jason thinks i get an f-y for a teaching grade.  ;)

just a few pics...

well, life is crazy and i don't have much time, but i'll try to at least put a few pics on today... some of jacee's head which got cracked open and she had to have 9 stitches... some of jayden, when her arm got injured while she was under the trampoline... and some of jacob while helping mommy at the farmer's market.

oct 6th 2013

had the blessing of leading jayden to the Lord last night. at about 9:00 i heard her crying in her room and i went in there and talked with her and she prayed and accepted Christ. what a blessing!

( i know this is old, but i'm posting anyway)  ;)

funnies!

***flatulation joke warning*** on the way to work this morning, jacob tells us, "hey mom and dad! i know why riding our bike is not polluting. when you fart, the gas just gets stopped by the bike seat, so it's not going into the air... and there's no motor on the bike. " he made us both lol.
then, just a few minutes ago, jayden tells me, "mom! they must've golfed here before!! (pointing to the sidewalk in front of our shop) there's golf grass (moss)!!" i love my crazy kiddos!

jacobism...

bless his little heart!... the other day i was driving in to work with the kiddos with me and from the back seat jacob says... "mom, i wish we could go to church everyday.  we should worship the Lord with gladness..."  this was a verse he had memorized for awana, and he has been recalling his verses lately when he's scared and glad and in different situations, so i was happy that he thought of this one... trying not to crush his worshipful spirit i said, "well buddy, that would be great, but we have to go to work, so that we can eat, and have a house and buy things... how would we pay our bills?  we have to go to work."  he thought for a second and then he said, "well, all the people that don't love Jesus and don't go to church can pay our bills!"  i love that kid!  i'm thinking there's a new welfare! ;)

"oh, what a beautiful morning...."

what a GORGEOUS day it is!!!  last night we went to home depot and bought some flowers that i got partially planted and 2 new flags... i was able to get stuff done a little before it got dark and then this morning God kissed those beautiful flowers with some sonshine... look at the beautiful flag flying in the small breeze.

a quick jacobism...

what a funny little guy i have!?!  he keeps me in stitches!  today we got him signed up for t-ball.  he is sooooooooo excited!  he got on the phone and called oma and opa, and then uncle jos and he told uncle jos not to worry about missing his games, 'cause he could just watch him on t.v.  ;)  he told him he'd be on espn. ;)  I LOVE IT!!  i've been chuckling about it all day. :)  gotta' love'em!

jayden update...

we made it home! yesterday afternoon we were released from the hospital and able to go home. we finally got jayden to drink something by having a contest with mommy. we'd see who could drink faster and she beat me twice... little stinker! ;) so they released us at about 2:30 ish and when we got home she was happy, but very worn out! she fell asleep in the play room sitting on a chair. she still isn't fully herself, but with time, hopefully she'll get there. she is very worn out, only wanting to lay there and not do much... except of course, fighting with brother. ;) we were very blessed witha wonderful supper brought to us by a great friend, Bethany Adams. it was very nice not to have to worry about dinner. thanks everyone for the prayers, calls, visits, concerns, and everything else. it was greatly appreciated!

jayden

1 march 2012
just an update to those of you who haven't heard... i am up at the hospital with jayden. they admitted her yesterday with pneumonia and rsv. her fever was as high as 107.3 at one time and has been up and down. she is on oxygen quite a bit (took her off for the last 2 or 3 hours), an iv and the are giving her quite a bit of meds. she looks much better than yesterday, but they say she will probably still need to stay 'till sunday at least. thanks for the prayers everyone.
......   day 3
i go from crying to rejoicing, to crying, to rejoicing.... jayden is doing much better. her lungs sound great! her fever has been down closer to 99 and she's going without oxygen. PTL!! now it's just getting her to eat and drink. she doesn't have much desire to do either one, but for breakfast this morning she ate 1/2 a banana, a bowl of grapes and 2 bites of my omelet. SUCH AN IMPROVEMENT!! they say if i feel comfortable enough with her and if she continues as she is, we may go home late tonight. pending on how she does the rest of the day. please pray.... both for her and her health, but also, for this mommy. i now have rsv myself, from being up here with her and i'm just exhausted emotionally and physically right now. i'm not sure i'm up to her going home yet, with me being her sole caretaker. please pray.

the kids...

my kids can make friends with anyone!  they had them named and everything. ;) crazy kids!

the kids and their "towing business", jayden and her backwards overalls (personally
i think overalls are hard enough to put on, but to manage to get them on backwards...
now that's talent!), and jacee on her"bike".

jacee's 1!

well, my baby's not a baby anymore.  she's a big one year old. we took her in for her 1 year check up yesterday and she's 29 inches, and 19.8lbs  she is growing to be such a big girl.  she's really into twinkle, twinkle and playing with her brother and sister.  she's pretty good at wrestling with them.  she likes to take her sister by the neck and take her down.  it's actually really funny to watch.  she LOVES her new big girl carseat and she kicks and giggles everytime we get in the car now.  what a little cutie pie!

"mom, obviously you weren't listening to yourself!"

well, i had to run some errands, paysome bills and make a few quick stops the other day.  so, i decided i would take jacob.  the girls were going to stay with "gwammy ynda" and jacob would come with me.  well, first stop was walgreens for medicine for jacee and while we were walking around, jacob kept asking for toys.  what a teaching opportunity, i thought.  so, i told him that instead of thinking of ourselves we needed to be thinking of others.  he could buy something for one of his sisters if he wanted, or buy for a child who doesn't have many or any toys... we went on and you could tell his little mind was working.  well, we got the medicine and went on to mcdonalds... i was starving!  so i got a french fry and shared it with jacob and then we went on to pay some bills.  we paid the phone bill and then i wanted to stop and look at goodwill for a few minutes and i got a few crafty things and then i was ready to check out... but, not before checking out the purses. ;)  so, i was looking at them and showing jacob all of them in their beauty.  when, i showed jacob one and asked if i should get it for myself he pointed out the obvious... when he said..."mom, we need to have a talk...obviously you weren't listening to yourself! this is the season to think of other people not yourself!  if you buy that purse for yourself that would be very selfish!  so, put the purse down and lets go!"  so, on that note... we left!  gotta' love kids!
